Working in the historic karkhanas of Lucknow's Chowk quarter, Ustad Faiyaz Khan and senior Chowk embroiderers safeguarded court-grade Awadhi whitework needlecraft—rice-grain murri knots, millet-seed phanda relief, shadow-work bakhiya, and thread-pulled jali open latticework without cutting a single warp yarn. 1

Documented in the Ministry of Textiles Shilp Guru compendium, their teaching workshops sustained slow hand-block wash-print preparation and 120-count mulmul embroidery against machine-stitch dilution. 1
