Working in the palm-lined craft village of Raghurajpur near Puri, Guru Maguni Charan Das established Dasabhuja Gotipua Odissi Nritya Parishad to sustain residential akhada training in Vaishnava abhinaya songs, mardala percussion, and interlocked acrobatic bandha postures. 1

Generations of Odissi and Gotipua performers traced their foundational physical grammar to his courtyard school, recognised with the Odisha Sangeet Natak Akademi Award and Padma Shri (2004). 1
