Mirwas is attested in the primary archival record for Al-Mizmar in Jeddah & Medina, Hejaz, Saudi Arabia.

Performed at weddings and civic gatherings across the Hejaz cities of Mecca, Medina, Jeddah, and Taif, two lines of men dressed in white thobes twirl seasoned wooden staffs around a central brazier.

Driven by the double-reed mizmar shawm and a battery of mirwas and tabl drums.
