Archival note & context

Palmas is attested in the primary archival record for Flamenco in Seville, Jerez & Cádiz, Spain.

Structured across more than fifty palos—from solemn soleá and siguiriya to festive bulerías and alegrías—flamenco unfolds through an intense dialogue of voice, cypress-backed guitar, palmas handclaps, and percussive taconeo footwork.

Transmitted across dynasties in the barrios of Triana (Seville), Santiago (Jerez), and Sacromonte (Granada) as well as peñas flamencas.
