Leading his hereditary Nakash workshop in Cheriyal village of Siddipet district, Telangana, Dhanalakota Vaikuntam preserved the multi-coat tamarind-paste, river-clay, and boiled-chalk priming required before laying down Cheriyal's unmistakable scarlet-vermilion background. 1

Commissioned historically by itinerant Mandapalli, Goud, and Padmashali balladeers to illustrate Markandeya and Goudapuranam recitals, his family studio trained a new generation of scroll and saw-dust mask painters, earning the National Handicrafts Award. 1
